 Long ago when I first started my clean eating journey I was at a loss on what to eat. The first couple years I basically starved myself. I didn't know about eating the rainbow. I figured eating the foods within my diet was sufficient even if I was consuming the same 5 foods everyday. I was severely underweight and was only consuming about 1200 calories a day. My hair was thin. My nails were peeling. My energy and drive to do anything was completely gone. on top of that I was a mother to 8 children and nursing AND I had a ton of underlying disorders that were majorly affecting my health. 

Had I known about this lovely little chart, it would have been very welcomed. I would have known exactly what to eat to not only heal my body, but nourish the areas that were sick from the health problems  that were already causing havoc on my body. 

While in school to support people in health and wellness I heard a theory. It'EATs called the crowding out theory. Don't think about the long list of foods that we can or can't have. Instead crowd out unhealthy foods with foods that you like to eat already. Look at the chart and think about some foods you can add. It will naturally crowd out a lot of the crap foods.
